AUTRY APARTMENT
Immediately they got to Autry’s apartment, he walked into the kitchen to get a bottle of water from the refrigerator and gave Ruby to drink
Ruby’s cheeks were quick to colour as she sipped the water, making a face with each gulp. Taking a deep breath, she dropped the empty bottle on the center table
Autry sat beside her, he decided to keep silent for awhile, while he leaned forward to scrutinise her aura and her eyes
“What is your name?” He asked
“Ruby”
“What a cute name!” Autry murmured under his breath
“You can call me Autry, but if I may ask, why were you crying?”
Autry was watching her intently so she shrugged but her expression softened, his intense gaze made her face growing warm.
Ruby blinked her eyes over and over again, keeping her voice conversational, she asked him without looking up
“Can I confide in you?”
“Your secret is safe with me Precious,” Autry muttered staring at her tear-swollen eyes
“Precious?” Ruby murmured, a look of amusement crossed her face, visible in the shift of her eyebrows, slowly she turned her head, looking up at last
“Yes! that’s my own definition of your name, I’m listening tell me about it,” Autry encouraged her to talk as he listened and observed in silence
“I saw my brother kissing a girl, he now has a girlfriend”
“Wait, I Don’t understand you, are you trying to say that your brother has a girlfriend that was the reason why you were crying?”, Autry asked surprisingly.
Ruby nodded her head as Autry looked shocked then burst into laughter
“You are making me to laugh away my sorrow unintentionally. Don’t you want your brother to have a girlfriend?” Autry questioned her
“I’m in love with my brother but he doesn’t feel the same for me, I felt sad seeing him kissing another girl,” Ruby said and she started crying again
“You can’t love your brother, that’s insane, It is called Incest. So it’s wrong to have feelings for your brother,” Autry said with a serious tone
“Hush girl”, He held her face in his hand and wiped the tears on her face.
“Look at me Precious, do you have a friend?”
“I don’t have any friend, my brother is my only friend, Dad doesn’t allow me to mingle with people,” Ruby said truthfully
“I think I understand your problem, you don’t love your brother, it is just an infatuation and the only way to get over it is to stay away from him for a while
If you cease seeing him everyday, you will see that your feelings for him is not true,” Autry lectured her
“I don’t have anywhere to go, I don’t have any friends or family, all I have is my Dad and my brother”, Ruby opened up to him
“You’re from a rich family, I can see that you look so expensive. If you don’t mind you can stay with me, I have two rooms in this house and you will occupy one,” Autry uttered
“I don’t mind staying with you, I also want to get over the feelings I have for him”….
A ringing telephone interrupted their conversation, Ruby glanced at the phone repeatedly but didn’t touch it. Emotion draining from her face as she took a quick look at the phone screen
“Answer your call Precious,” Autry whispered
“I don’t want to pick it, it’s my brother that is calling”
“And I don’t want the Cops to wake me up tomorrow morning, answer this call Precious”, Autry insisted, and without hesitation, he picked the phone from the table and handed it over to her
Answering the call with one tap, she spoke with Chester on the phone for five minutes and assured him that everything was okay and that she was safe with Autry.
“I’m hungry,” Ruby told Autry immediately she hung up the phone
Autry stood up and walked into the kitchen so as to prepare something for her to eat.
Ruby was uncomfortable as she sat on the sofa, she felt like she was ordering Autry around, she stood up and followed him to the kitchen so as to give him a helping hand.
