“Juliet! Juliet!” Ella called.
I quickly covered my phone with a pillow and jumped into a sitting position as the door opened.
“Where have you been? She asked sticking her head through the door.
“I thought we were waiting for Susan!” I said in defence.
“Come on Juliet! You know very well that if you want to wait for Susan to finish praying, you would wait all day!”
“Susan is such a praying machine! I envy her prayer life ooo!” I said smiling.
“Dear! You can envy it when we get back. Let’s be going jare! We have lost so much time”.
“Can’t we wait a little bit more for Susan? I want the 3 of us to go! I’m tired of the 2 of us going by ourselves”.
The truth is, she was a great companion. But I had completely lost interest in going out to win souls.
I knew it was time to go out for evangelism, but I wasn’t willing to go anymore. Should I say I had completely lost interest or what? I don’t know the right word that fits my unwillingness to go with them anymore.
I wasn’t a member of this house at all. Dad sent me to live here after I told him what happened to me.
My parents were divorced and mum left me with dad and moved on with the man of her dreams. I’ll never forgive her for that.
She left me with dad was not the issue. She left me for good was the issue. I mean, I have heard stories of divorced parents who still had time to visit their kids and take them out once in a while. I expected my experience to be like that, but mum disappeared for good. No brake light is the right word.
Dad was a sales representative for one of the biggest electronics company in Nigeria and that meant he had to travel alot. That was what I hated the most. I hated it when my dad had to leave me.
I loved being alone, but he never wanted it that way. He had to hand me to a neighbour or a friend. I enjoyed my loneliness as it became an occasion for me to do whatever I wanted. But dad was sorely against it.
I was tossed from one neighbour to another to look after. Different neighbours. At a point, I was angry with it and started showing my neighbours I was a bad girl. I got what I wanted. One after the other, neighbours started rejecting to look after me whenever my dad asked them to do so.
I was tired of being handed over to one neighbour to look after. I wanted a family. I wanted a Dad and a mum. Was that too much for a 16 year old girl to ask for?
When we were running out of neighbours, Dad decided to send me to live with his sister. I shouted and screamed at him that I wasn’t going anywhere. I cursed and fought my way out of it, but parents always have the upper hand. He succeeded in sending me to my aunt.
But I succeeded in what I knew how to do best. I was the baddest girl in the world. My aunt’s husband could not put up with my attitude. He ordered me out of the house and my dad was forced to come and get me.
That was when Mummy Toyin came to our area for a youth conference. All my friends were going because we all knew her as one of the most popular female minister in Nigeria. Meeting her live was like getting a PhD. Most of my friends who were privileged to attend meetings were Apostle Selman or Apostle Orokpo ministered, won’t allow us to rest.
The meeting would be the talk of the town. That’s the same thing with mummy Toyin. I was completely excited to be there, so I can give my friends gist. Dad decided to take me there and come to get me when we closed.
Dad was a nice man. He treated me like a queen. We only had each other.
I attended the program and it was unlike any program I had ever attended. The main reason why I attended the program was to gist my friends and brag I was in a live meeting where the great woman of God! I mean the popular woman of God ministered. That was the main reason why I attended the meeting. But I never knew it was a divine set up.
Yeah! God set me up. It was nothing but a trap. Mummy Toyin was only the bait. God knew I loved meeting with Christian celebrities. So he set me up that day. When I saw the flyer, I was super excited.
My friends and I attended the meeting and took alot of selfies and posted on Facebook while the meeting was going on. Trust me! We brought out our tongues very well in the photos. Held up two fingers and blew kisses at the camera. We tagged the post, ‘AT THE MEETING WITH THE FIRERY WOMAN OF GOD’.
It’s not everyone that gets to meet such a blessing to our generation. Facebook must hear am ooo! What was the title of the message she was preaching, I don’t know. All I knew was I stood up at different intervals and tried to snap her from the gallery where I was as she moved.
Then mummy stood at the pulpit and said.
“We have been playing ever since we got here. I want to set this place on fire”.
I was smiling where I was.
“Ride on ma!” My friend beside me shouted.
If only I knew what she meant by that I wouldn’t have been as excited as I was. That’s where the trap of the Holy Ghost caught me.
“Fire of the Holy Ghost! Surround this place. Fall upon those slay queens in this meeting!” She screamed on top of her voice.
Normally, I would connect into the spirit to be able to get slain in a meeting. But today was something else. I was still pressing my phone when it was as if my hands were shaking on its own. I shrugged and replied Cynthia on Facebook that she was missing a lot by refusing to join us to the meeting.
She replied my chat that they were enjoying pizza at ShopRite with her Dad right now.
“My dad is taking me out and you’re telling me I should trade it for one revival meeting. My dad who hardly takes us out. You’re telling me, I should miss it because one woman of God is in town. No ooo! I can’t miss it ooo!”
“Cynthia, please keep some pizza for me ooo! I would really love to taste…..
That’s what I was typing when my phone fell off my hands suddenly. I felt as if fire was burning within my chest.
“Jesus!!!!!!!” I shouted.
I jumped and jumped like a mad woman. I didn’t know when my phone crashed on the floor and the screen shattered as I stepped on it during my spiritual frenzy. I fell on a number of plastic chairs and broke them into magnificent sizeable pieces.
Everyone around me had to run for their lives or be a victim of my dramatic manifestation. My friends ran away and stood at a distance watching. They were completely scared by my display.
I was seriously fighting to control myself, but it wasn’t working. My situation was getting worse.
“Bring them to me at the altar!” The woman of God demanded.
I noticed I was being carried by the ushers. I was still screaming fire as they carried me down the stairs and soon, I was face to face with the Jesus celebrity.
I seriously struggled to open my eyes and get a mental picture of her or imagine myself collecting her autograph. But I discovered my eyes fought to remain shut. I struggle and struggled till I surrendered and left them shut.
“Lord! They are here! Just as you requested! Commission them one after the other. Holy Ghost! Where are you?” The woman of God said with a loud voice and I could hear those standing close to me screaming and landing heavily on the ground.
Soon, I felt a hand on my head. I knew it was the woman of God. I tried to open my eyes to look at her, but it refused to open.
“Lord! Take this one out of this realm!” She said.
Immediately, I felt completely weakened by the power of God and dropped like a mighty iroko tree. Thank God the ushers standing beside me were quick enough to catch me.
I remembered being laid on the floor by the ushers but what happened next was what I never expected.
I was still on the floor rolling as I was relieved of the pain I felt so badly, when suddenly, I had the most amazing experience of my life.
All I saw was light. I looked all around and discovered we were all standing on a straight line. Were we dead?
“Ha! Mummy Toyin had killed me with her anointing. My own has finished oooo!
God! I’m sorry for all the sins I have committed. I’m sorry for all the sins I have been commiting. God please! Don’t let them send me to hell! I promise to repent if only you can give me another chance”.
“JULIET ANDERSON!” Came the voice of the one that sat on the throne.
I saw a winged man walk up to me and pointed forward. The light in this place was beyond description.
I moved slowly and went down on my knees before the king who sat down on the throne.
“Lord I’m not worthy to stand before you! I’m a sinner! I’m an unserious girl! I never took my relationship with you to be anything. I live in sin day in and day out!
“I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I WILL HAVE MERCY! ARISE THOU DAUGHTER OF VALOUR!”
“Daughter of valour?” I asked myself as I rose up.
The winged man presented a sword to me. I took it and looked at it with awe. It was well sheathed in a golden scabbard.
“UNSHEATH IT!” Came the command.
I drew the sword out and light filled the whole place. What a powerful weapon it was.
“READ WHAT YOU FIND ON THE BLADE! READ IT ALOUD!” Came the voice of the one who sat upon the throne.
“Jeremiah 51:20. Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;
Verse 21. And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
Verse 22. With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid”.
“JULIET ANDERSON! MAKE SURE THAT SWORD GETS STAINED WITH BLOOD! DON’T BRING THAT SWORD WITHOUT HAVING SLAYING A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THAT SWORD. GO AND SLAY FOR ME! MAKE SURE THAT SWORD GETS STAINED WITH BLOOD”
Those were the last words I heard before opening my eyes only to find myself on the floor in the church.
To be continued……..
I’m feeling the heat already!
