His gaze settled on me, waiting tensely for me to respond. It didn’t seem as though he would listen to anything I said at the moment, so I kept silent, slowly spinning a packet of pen on the table with the tip of my finger.
When he realized that I wasn’t ready to talk he sat down and took a few deep breaths to calm himself down, feeling less agitated.
He pulled himself together, looked round, screwing up his eyes, he glanced at me again, then the sense of shock faded in and out a little and started feeling a bit more self-composed
When he seemed to have regulated his emotions, then I began to speak
“I met Uriel at the college twenty-four years ago, She was beautiful in appearance and appeared soft-hearted, but was actually strong-willed
She got pregnant months after we started dating. So I decided to inform my parents. Just to sit them down and tell them as it was.
“Dad, mum, I got my girlfriend pregnant”
I thought they would be angry and dissapointed in me and also rejected my girlfriend cause her family was poor, however they choose to react to the news was up to them because I’d made up my mind to marry Uriel but they were happy for me
I paid a visit to Uriel and I was thrilled to learn that she had a twin sister. So we got married as soon as we could and I was ready to put the effort into the permanent relationship.
Uriana moved in with us after three months of marriage but she was totally different from her twin sister.
Uriana was definitely flirting with me at every opportunity. She would looked at me frequently, teased me, touched me and texted me random, funny things. She always called me nicknames, making up excuses to talk to me and adjusting her body language toward me
When I complained to my wife, I felt confident that something would be done, but she paid no attention to it. So I chose to overlook it
The day my wife gave birth to twins of different sexes, I thought it was a sign of good luck, new beginnings and hope for the future. At first, I was happy until Uriel glanced at me and smiled, she told me to name you “Ric” and your twin sister “Ria” then said I should marry her twin sister so that she could take care of the kids.
I was exhibiting an inability to understand what she was saying, I felt confused, stupid, terrified, overwhelmed and lost. But before I could ask a question, she drew her last breath
I was devastated by the loss of Uriel, I was extremely traumatized, in need of urgent repair.
Afterwards, Uriana was warm, loving and responsive to my kids.That was why I decided to marry her after one year of Uriel’s death”
I paused for a moment and looked at Ric who was listening with eager attention. He stared at me with a cold glint in his eye and rose from the table
He shook his head sadly and squeezed his eyes closed, strugging not to recall the memory of the past event into his mind because it was an effect that was strong enough to change how he felt towards relationships completely
“We’ve somehow managed to stay together but after a decade, Uriana became a sadist, always getting pleasure from hurting me and being cruel to Ric. Her hurtful behaviors — such as lying, cheating, dismissing, and controlling was getting out of hand as she started treating Ric with violence, thinking his mother had ill-treated him when he was young
Also she was committing adultery with a much younger men and she hated Ric because he accused her of disloyalty, duplicity and betrayal.
Cheating was undeniably one of the most difficult things I had ever face. It took a long time to recover from the anxiety, anger, and devastation that followed
Her infidelity continued for more than two years, then I divorced her and that was when she totally ruined my life and career
Uriana in retaliation kidnapped Ric and demanded a huge ransom for him to return home unharmed. I was held at gunpoint as Uriel was threatening to shoot and kill Ric if I did not obey her.
Then I was handed a slip of paper and a pen to sign my name with evident satisfaction
“I give all my residences and companies, subject to any mortgages or encumbrances thereon, and all policies and proceeds of insurance covering such property, to Uriana”
“Dad don’t sign it” Ric was in tears and could barely speak
When he looked up at me, my gaze roved over his face. I was nearly in tears, I couldn’t afford to lose my 12- year-old boy. So I signed my properties to her and became wretched after a couple of days.
