🔹A WEEK LATER🔹
It’d been a week I lost my friend and her husband, I was wondering who murdered them. Although the cops are still investigating on the matter. My husband travelled to Florida a day before the incident and he will be back tomorrow
I gave Rhoda and Richard a befitting burial but Aaliyah didn’t stop crying, I understood perfectly and I wished she could see me as a mother
I walked into her room, it was late at night but she’d not been sleeping at night since she lost her parents. She slept only during the day, I knew her fear though and I hope she overcome it soon
“Aaliyah are you okay?” I asked, sitting beside her on the bed and she nodded her head
“You don’t eat the food the maid brought for you, don’t you like the food? Do you want me to prepare another one for you?” I asked, concern for her making my chest tighten. Then she turned her head from side to side as a way of answering “no”
“You know what? Tell me everything you want me to do and your fears. Text everything to me now, I’m waiting” I told her
She took her phone and started typing. I received a notification on my phone and I smiled at her. Hence, I took my time to read everything she typed
She typed that she couldn’t sleep at night because she always saw my husband pointing gun at her
I was shocked but I didn’t want to scare her the more because I knew my husband can not hurt her.
“Aaliyah dear, trust me my husband cannot harm you, I want you to be strong for me so that Rhoda can be happy wherever she is. I will do everything that your parents had in mind to do for you, I will make sure that your teacher that always teach you come here everyday and protect you with everything I have” I assured her
“I love you dear just the way I love Mia, my daughter. If you need anything text me and make sure you eat” I added.
Her long, black hair swayed as she nodded her head and face the TV in her room. Then stepped out of her room and saw my son coming toward the direction of Aaliyah’s room
“Melvin what are you doing here?” I asked glaring at him
I knew the kind of person he was, he was a play boy even at age twenty-one, he didn’t have a girlfriend, all he knows is to flirt around
“Mum, I just want to check on Aaliyah” he answered
“I’ve done that, you can go back to your room and let this be the last time I will ever see you in front of this door” I said sternly
He frowned at me, clearly annoyed and sluggishly left to his room

I woke up the next morning, I stretched and yawned before going straight to Aaliyah’s room. Seeing her sleeping peacefully, I moved toward the bed and pulled the duvet up to cover her properly
“I think I will have to inform her teacher to be coming in the evening for her lectures since she sleeps during the day, I want her to resume her classes very soon and I will make sure I seek justice for her parent’s death”
I left her room and went straight to the bathroom to shower, I have to be at the airport in the next one hour to receive my husband
I showered and dressed up quickly, then went to the dinning room to have my breakfast
“Good morning mum” Melvin greeted me, placing a kiss on my right cheek
He took his seat and we had our breakfast
” Let’s go! We need to leave in five minutes” I spoke up immediately we finished eating and headed to the parking lot
“Mum, won’t Dad be annoyed that you didn’t informed him about the incident that happened last week? Remember Aaliyah is staying with us without his consent” Melvin muttered as he continued driving
“But he was the one that told me not to disturb him that he will be very busy, don’t worry, he will understand” I said to my son
“Mum, Mia Called me that she doesn’t like her college” Melvin spoke up again
“She don’t have options, she just resumed to the college, so she can’t leave” I murmured
I don’t even know where I got these two kids from. Very lazy kids, all they know was spending money, clubbing and flirting
“But Mum….”
“No but”
A few minutes later, we arrived at the airport and my husband was already waiting for us
“Gerald” I hugged him so tight
“You look more beautiful Alisa” he complimented me on my appearance as he pulled me closer and kissed my forehead.
“Dad” Melvin welcomed him and hugged his father

When we got back home, I explained everything that happened to Gerald after he had settled down in our room and his face showed no expression. Anyway he has always been like that since I got married to him
“It’s fine she can stay here” Was all he uttered
