“Mia what’s happening between you and Ric?” Tina inquired as she entered into my room
“How do you mean?” I asked
I looked up at myself in the mirror as I finished zipping my dress getting ready for school. Then I sat down in front of my dressing-table mirror and brushed my hair.
“Ric doesn’t make time for your relationship, I feel like he’s losing feelings towards you or you are just not a priority anymore because It seems like a one-sided relationship and your wedding date is not yet decided” Tina stated
“There is no need for concern! I will send you an invite to my wedding soon” I responded
Dad had phone me to say that I should put my mind at rest. I believed he would solve the problem and I’d stop myself from worrying about Ric
“If you say so” Tina said, shrugging her shoulders
I was painting my nails with the colour of my choice when suddenly I heard a scream from Tina
“Your Dad!” She shouted
I lifted my head and my eyes set on a TV inside my room. My gaze flickered to the screen as I read the news
“The police have apprehended two individuals in connection with violent crime and Murder and they are both defined as persistent criminals”
“Your Dad is a Murderer!” Tina muttered, looking up at me suspiciously
I reached for my bag and car keys, I shook my head in defeat and waved good-bye as I headed for the door.
My Dad shattered my hopes of being Mrs Ric Nolan, he completely destroyed my dreams and beliefs. There was no way for me to attend the class because the news had spread like wildfire

I arrived home from school to find my brother apparently fast asleep in his bed.
“How do people sleep in a critical situation” I wondered, tapping him on his leg
He woke up and looked round for a while before his eyes settled on my face
“I guess you’ve seen the News” He mumbled, then cleared his throat
“Where is Mom?” I asked
“Mom is at the hospital. I heard that Dad shot Aaliyah and she has been rushed to the hospital” Melvin answered
“Oh my goodness!” I put my hand over my mouth. I sat dejectly on the bed beside Melvin and murmured. “I have no more fight in me” I blinked back tears, emotionally exhausted.
