JULIET’S POV
I entered the classroom without waiting to ask if I was permitted to. I knew I was looking for trouble but I was too excited to calm down. Immediately I arrived at school, I just threw my bag carelessly on my seat and ran in search for Ope. Like you all know, she was in SS 3, while I was in SS 2. This was one of the reasons why I insist she stops calling me mummy, but this girl will not hear word. Can you imagine this sort of embarrassment?
How can a senior student call a junior student her mum? Well, save the answer to that question for next time.
I rushed into the class and found Ope sitting quietly on her seat. I ran to her and she stood up to welcome me.
I threw my arms around her in a warm embrace.
“Thank you so much! Thank you for allowing Jesus to take the glory last night!” I whispered while we held each other tightly.
“And a big thank you to my spiritual mummy here. A lady who has refused to give up on this disappointment of a daughter!”
“Shush! You’re not a disappointment. You’re an appointment. You’re an investment to God, awaiting to explode with so much profit to him.”
“Awwnnnnn! Thank you ma!”
“Imagine what you can do with all this knowledge? Especially with the life after death experience,” I said as we loosened from the hug and looked into each other’s eyes.
“Yes! Just imagine!” I added.
She smiled.
“More souls are about to be won in their numbers. I believe you can get to work this morning.”
“Haaaaa! Ope!” A girl shouted as she entered the classroom.
Her scream got everyone’s attention, so they all looked at her and then at us.
“What happened?”
“Why are you shouting like that?”
Questions rained from every side.
“This girl died on Saturday. The news got to us. How come she’s alive in this class? Is this not her ghost?” The girl querried.
“Yes oooo! I heard something like that, but I talk say na play dem dey play. Ope no fit die. I just wave the story go one corner. But wait oooo! You mean say na true?” Another female student said.
“What are you guys saying? You mean this girl died and rose again?” A female student asked.
“Yes! She did!” A boy answered.
“That’s a big lie! That impossible!”
“No it is!”
“What are you saying? How can someone die and wake up again? It’s not possible!”
These were the discussions going on around us.
“You have work to do. I thank God you’re a good story teller. Lead them to Jesus through your story. I’ll be back to hear you sharing testimonies of how many souls were won,” I said patting her shoulder.
I left the class as more people surrounded her and she began her story. I was stepping out of the door of the classroom when a hand grabbed me and pulled me to one side.
I looked and discovered it was Mr Clifford.
“This guy! What does he want now?”
“Good morning sir!” I greeted with a cheerful smile.
“There’s nothing good about the morning. What was the nonsense you said on Saturday?”
I did a little scan on my brain to see if I could recollect anything spoken by me on Saturday.
“What did I say on Saturday?” I asked.
“Young lady, don’t answer my questions with questions? What did you tell Angela and her team on Saturday?”
That was when I remembered.
“Oh! You mean those fellas!” I said smiling.
“Answer me!” He said angrily.
“Hey! What’s your business with what I tell my ex school mate?”
He looked at me with a look of disgust.
“Juliet, you’re disrespectful! You’re referring to me as hey!”
“Mr Clifford! I’m sorry if I sounded disrespectful. I apologize for that! But I believe she has already told you what I told her, so I am under no obligation to answer your questions!”
He smirked.
“Beautiful!” He said and clapped his hands in mockery.
“Has anyone ever told you that you have a big mouth? You speak more than what you can do?”
“Daddy, please tell me what’s going on?” I whispered.
“THEY’RE INSTALLING SATAN’S MOST POSITIVE APPLICATION INTO YOUR SPIRITUAL SYSTEM. WOULD YOU LOVE TO KNOW THE NAME OF THIS APPLICATION?”
“Yes please!”.
“FEAR! THEY WANT TO FRIGHTEN YOU, SO THEY CAN HAVE AN UPPER HAND. FEAR IS ONE OF THE DEVIL’S MOST POWERFUL WEAPONS.”
“No weapon that is formed to defeat me shall prosper. I am seated with Christ in the heavenly places, far above principalities and powers. Greater is he that is in me, than he that is in the world. I am more than a conqueror, through him that loves me!” I quoted with anger boiling inside of me.
He moved back with a frown on his face.
“Juliet, the battle line has just been drawn!”
“Shut up! There is no battle line between you and me. My Lord had already defeated you and your bundle of losers long ago on the cross of Calvary. Coming after me is nothing but a validation of your defeat. You’re going to get double shame and double defeat!”
He laughed.
“Jesus defeated us on the cross, right? So how come we’re the ones in charge here?”
I was so shocked by that question. I didn’t know what to say. He was right. They were the ones in charge. Darkness was all over this school and it is not something to argue. They were really in charge and in control. But does that mean the word of God is a lie?
“JULIET, YOU DON’T AGREE WITH THE DEVIL’S FACTS. WHAT DOES THE WORD OF GOD HAS TO SAY CONCERNING THIS? FACTS ARE THE WAYS THROUGH WHICH SATAN GETS US TO DOUBT GOD’S WORD AND ACCEPT THE LIES HE’S FEEDING US WITH.”
“For this reason the son of God was made manifest that he might destroy the works of the devil,” I replied.
I saw the shock on his face as he stepped back. I looked at him with angry eyes.
“DON’T SAY ANYTHING TO HIM!” Came the instruction.
I quickly held my peace. I was about to give him a piece of my mind. Thank God for the Holy Spirit, ever present to give us instructions.
He looked at me for a while and with what I saw, he was expecting me to say more. But thanks to Daddy, I was already armed with the right instructions.
He just turned away and left.
“Thank you Jesus!” I whispered.
I walked down to my class and sat down. Romeo was now in school already.
“Hi!” I greeted.
“Hello!” He replied smiling.
“Yesterday no be joke ooo!” He said.
“No be lie!”
“My body hear am! I was out of this world. I have never prayed like that in my entire life before. I never knew grace to pray was that experiencial. It made me more determined to die in the place of prayers.”
“Grace is always sufficient. Even the word of God says that where sin abounds much, grace is much more in abundance in that location. All we have to do is to yield ourselves.”
“Mama! You’ll teach me more about this ooooo! Because I was shocked by what I read in the bible this morning.
While he was still saying it, the assembly bell rang. We both stood up and walked down to the assembly.
A student in the senior classes was asked to take the lead in praise and worship. It was boring as usual, my team and I sang from where we stood with all joy. It didn’t take long, the entire students began to sing along with us which made the praise powerful.
Soon, the principal stood before us all to address us.
“Good morning students!”
“Good morning sir!” We all chorused.
“I have an important announcement to make. We would be having our midterm break on Friday till Monday this week and….. Well, there’s a new development in this school.
I don’t know if this is a school or a church. Some people are trying to turn this place to a church. They have been having weekly services and conducting deliverance in the citadels of intellectual domain. Students rolling on the floor screaming witchcraft and confessing what I don’t know.
This would no longer be tolerated in this school. No more bible classes, no more meetings of students. If more than 5 students are seen studying the bible together, they would be punished.”
I could hear screams all over. Students complaining and giving their disapproval.
“My decision is final!” The principal said when the students kept murmmuring.
“Order please! This is not a market square!”
“What’s the meaning of this? I know all this nonsense is happening because of you!” Samson whispered from where he stood behind me.
“God is at work! When Israel was about to recieve their deliverance, Pharaoh doubled their work load. God is at work. His people are about to recieve deliverance. So let Pharaoh do whatever he wants to do. He’ll carry his shame on his head and go home.” I replied in a whisper.
“Who is that person making noise there? Let me look fro a scape goat. You come out!” He said and pointed at me.
I pointed at myself to be sure he was referring to me.
“What were you discussing on the assembly ground with your boyfriend?”
All eyes were on me.
“Sir…….!” I stuttered trying to process the question.
“Infact, kneel down!” He barked angrily.
I was shocked.
“Haaaaa!” The entire school chorused.
“I said kneel down and you’re still looking at me are you mad?” He shouted angrily.
I quickly went down on my knees.
“Oga! I no understand oooo!” A tall dark boy said aloud.
“Understand what? Who said that rubbish.
“She no do anything na!” The student replied.
“Yes!” Many students concurred.
“Shut up! Are you going to tell me what to do?” He shouted and there was silence.
“Daddy please help me! Don’t allow me suffer for what I’m innocent of!” I prayed within me.
“Now all of you march to your class!” He ordered.
And in a few minutes, it was Mr Principal, two male teachers and I that were left.
“Next time, you’ll never talk while on the assembly!” He said to me.
I looked at him with a feigned look of fear on my face, but I was smiling within me. I knew God was at work already.
“Mr Osas! Make sure she does frog jump from that end to the other, seven times.” He said and made to leave.
“Sir! Pl…….”
“BE QUIET! DON’T BEG HIM!” Daddy warned sternly.
“Okay sir!” I said and breathe down as the principal left me with the male disciplinary teachers.
The principal was gone.
“Daddy please help me! Don’t allow them punish me innocently. I won’t beg them as you instructed. Just rescue me in return.”
“You heard the principal! Frog jump! Now!” The teacher ordered and raised the cane in his hand.
I quickly started the frog jump to avoid taking some lashes on my back.
“Daddy! Please help me!” I cried within me. My eyes were already getting blurred with tears.
“They’re oppressing me here daddy!”
There was no response.
I fell while jumping and looked at the teacher to plead with him that I was innocent.
But he rushed at me raising the cane and flogged me thrice on my back.
“Start all over! He ordered!”
“Haaaa! I have already gone twice and I was supposed to go seven times. Do you mean I should start all over?” I asked the teacher who answered my question with two strokes of the cane.
“Am I speaking latin?”
“Sir!”
I wanted to say please, but I remember Daddy said I shouldn’t say that.
“Daddy help me na! Please!” I burst into tears.
“Get down and jump if you don’t want more lashes!” He ordered.
I quickly started the frog jumps afresh and almost fainted at the 7th time.
To be continued………
Hmmmmm! It looks like Broadway academy is changing battle formation. The devil is an experienced player in the game of destiny.
But God is superior to him in wisdom and understanding.
Many of you thought God was going to rescue Juliet from being punished innocently, but he didn’t.
Do you really know what God is teaching her through this experience?
Let’s find out in the next episode.
The devil when he discovers you have mastered a particular technique he uses in defeating you. He withdraws and restrategises.
He starts looking for a better angle to strike. Something you least expect.
You’re going to pray this prayer point. Father every evil plan the enemy is crafting out to stop me from fulfilling my destiny and bury my spiritual life, let that plan be destroyed by fire!
This prayer point is for someone.
