The Jesus Slay Queens: Episode 57

“So you are the one cooking sweeping and doing all the house chores?” I asked as I arranged the plates.

“Yes! Actually I have a brother though. So it’s not just me, we have each other!” Romeo answered grinning.

Fejiro had returned home. Susan, Romeo and I were in the kitchen gisting and working together.

“Life without Mama is really dramatic!” I said.

“You both are better off compared to me. Both parents are gone in my own story!” Susan said.

We both looked at her and quickly responded in unison.

“Sorry about that!”

“It’s alright! I’ve gotten over it a long time ago. My family just left me to myself, went away with all my father’s wealth, companies, cars, houses and belongings and fled. None of them bothered to show their faces. I was living all by myself in a large house.

Thank God my school gave me scholarship. That’s what I’m living on right now. Mummy came to my rescue when food stuffs were down. Soon, she asked me to move in with them since I was all alone. That was how I got here.”

“Wow! I can’t believe there’s a true Nigerian Home Alone movie in reality!” I said all smiles.

“What’s home alone?” Susan asked.

“Nevermind!” I replied as I reminded myself that Susan and Ella were usually not the type of people you discuss movies with.

“So Romeo, sorry, Robert, is your brother your younger brother or older brother?” I asked.

“I would love you to guess,” he answered.

“For me I guess he’s older, if not he would be here with you!” I said.

“No he’s your younger brother,” Susan answered.

He smiled.

“So who won?” I asked.

He looked at me and continued smiling.

“Me!” I said and raised my hands in victory.

“You’re wrong!” He said dropping the shocker.

“You really are a trickster, you know that?” I said as I gave him a playful frown.

“So I was the winner?” Susan asked and made a little dance of triumph.

“You’re wrong also!” He said to her.

“How can both of us be wrong? It’s either he is older than you or younger than you!”

“Except?” He asked and gave me an expectant look.

“Except? Except? Oh! Except he’s a twin brother! Wow! Oh my God!” I said and leapt in excitement.

“You’re wrong,” he said.

I looked at him with shock.

“I don’t understand. What kind of brother is he? Is he the same age with you?”

“Yes!”

“And he’s not your twin?”

“Yes!”

“Wow! How can both of you be born by the same Mom on the same day and yet you guys aren’t twins?”

“Except?” He asked and gave me that expectant look.

“Unless you weren’t born of the same mother,” Susan answered.

“Exactly! He was adopted,” he answered.

“Wow! That’s amazing!” I said smiling.

“So Daddy adopted a guy to keep you company?”

“Not really. The guy was with us before he and mum divorced.”

“Oh!” I exclaimed.

“Actually, I can’t really say he was adopted because he was handed over to us by his late parents.”

“Wow! Romeo, you are really full of stories!” I said.

He gave me a look of disapproval.

“What?” I asked.

“Robert!” Susan said staring at me.

“Oh sorry! Robert!” I said and rubbed my palms together in a plea.

“I need to go now. I want to help Ella with her hair. Susan said immediately we were done washing the plates.

Mr Thompson was having a very important discussing with the daddy of the house. We the children were asked to excuse the adults. So Romeo came to help us with the dishes in the kitchen.

Immediately we were done with the plates in the kitchen, I took him outdoors. We both sat at the veranda on the tiled ground.

“So! Would you love to tell me what happened that led to you having an adopted brother?” I asked immediately we both sat down.

“Maybe later. Right now, there’s something going on in my heart that I need to share with you!” He said with a tone of seriousness.

I looked at his face and noticed he was looking deep in thoughts.

I quickly drew close to him and gave him my full attention.

“Go on, I’m listening. Hope it’s not another girlfriendship proposal?” I said and watched the magic in my words as a smile appeared on his face.

This guy was really handsome.

“Juliet! focus!” I said within me and with my imagination, slapped myself.

“Actually! I don’t know how to say it. I’m, I’m!” He said and gave a deep sigh.

I knew I had to throw my jokes aside. This was serious.

“Say it! I promise to be as understanding as possible.” I assured him.

“I told my brother and the thing only he did was laugh at me. I don’t know if discussing this with the opposite gender will do any good.”

I took his hand.

“Please go ahead! I’m here to help.” I said.

“Please don’t look down on me. Don’t let it make you feel I’m a terrible person!”

“Go on! I won’t!”

“I’m! I mean, I usually have this urge for immorality from time to time. I’m not a masturbator and I have never masturbated in my life. The only compromise I had done a few weeks ago was watching porn with a couple of friends. Since then, I can’t explain how life has been for me. From time to time, I usually have this strange feeling for immorality.

The images of those filthy and nude ladies appear in my head subsequently. It makes me feel like taking up my phone and browsing porn videos. I do my best to fight it. But recently, I have begin to lose the battle.

I feel twice. I have gone back to my vomit. I have now accepted Jesus and I believe Jesus will give me the strength to overcome this evil spirit. I don’t know if there is anything you can do to help me? Please help me!

I was reading my bible the other day and I discovered something in Matthew 1:21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

I discovered that the number one assignment of Jesus in our lives was to save us from sins. I began to question God. I was like why? After accepting Jesus into my life, why was I still browsing pornography? I was supposed to be saved from my sins right?

Why was I still living in sin? Why was sin still having the upper hand in my life? Why was sin still reigning in my life. I concluded I was not saved. If at all I was saved what was I saved from? Am I saved from pornography? No! Am I saved from fornication? No! What am I saved from?

Please help me out! I need clarity on this matter.” He said and now I had him giving me his usual expectant look.

I was like God, how do I tackle this kind of question? What is the solution to this type of experience?

I exhaled and looked at him.

“Now listen to me. You need to understand that as a child of God, there are principles of the kingdom that we must live by. Results don’t come accidentally. Victory or defeat is not by accident. They are gotten through a particular principle that was followed.

Now, you need to understand something about the human mind. What did the bible say about it.

Do you have your phone there with you?” I asked.

“Yes!”

“Open to Matthew 12:43.”

After opening to the particular place, he read out.

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

Verse 44. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

Verse 45. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

What exactly was Christ talking about? He’s calling your attention to the fact that once you’ve accepted Jesus, you need to understand that you have emptied yourself of the devil.

I don’t know if you have heard that there is no vacuum in the spirit. What that means is. You cannot resist the devil without saying yes to God and you cannot resist the Holy Ghost, without saying yes to the devil. That’s how it works.

I hope you know it’s very possible to resist the Holy Ghost?”

He gave me a surprised look.

“Yes! It’s very possible. When the Holy Ghost tells you to pray and you go back to sleep, you’re resisting him. And you cannot resist God and also resist the devil as well. Satan will definitely show up to suggest sin to you. And as long as you have been resisting the Holy Ghost, giving in to sin will become so easy.

What exactly am I trying to say. You have accepted Jesus, but have you filled your heart with more of God?

Romans 12:2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

If you do not renew your mind with God’s word, you’re going to end up conforming to the world. If you don’t consistently renew your strength before God in the place of prayer and in your quiet time. You’re going to end up giving in to sin.

Have you been observing your quiet time every single day?”

“No! There are days when I miss it,” he answered.

“That’s exactly what I’m talking about. You see the Christian life is like your phone battery. Whether you use your phone to do anything or not, the battery power percentage is reducing. Whether you like it or not it’s going down. If you don’t charge it on a daily basis, you’re going to discover that your spiritual life will go off in the middle of a battle and you’ll be defeated.

What exactly am I trying to say? The time you spend in God’s presence on a daily basis is not a waste. It’s the power source that powers you to live for God. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.

The more we spend time with God, the more we are going to find ourselves transforming into his image, conciously or unconciously. You are going to see the character of Jesus taking root in you.

Consistency is the key. If only you can stay consistent with the process. You will be surprised at the level of transformations that you would experience.

Jesus said pray, lest you fall into temptation. Am I correct?”

“Yes!”

“That’s why the unclean spirit of pornography could come back. The house was empty of prayers. The house was empty of God’s word.

Remember when Jesus entered the temple in the bible. He met illegal occupants. Pornography was there. Masturbation was there. Anger and bitterness was there. Unforgiveness was there. They were all trading in God’s temple which is your body.

The first thing Jesus did was to chase out all the illegal occupants. But what else did he say when he drove out masturbation and pornography?

He said it is written that my house, which is your body, shall be called a house of prayer. You were created to be a house of prayer. You are a being of prayer.

If you chose not to pray. That demon of masturbation and pornography that Jesus chased out will return with 7 other wicked spirits and occupy your body.

“Wow!” He exclaimed.

“But I have a question.”

“Yes!”

“What about a person who prays everyday, reads the bible everyday, fasts every week. Yet, the urge to masturbate came and the person fell, after one month of walking in dominion. What can you say happened to that person?

Is it that the person did not pray well, or the person is not a good prayer warrior? What happened to that person?”

I exhaled.

“That leads us to phase two.”

To be continued………

You are a temple of prayer. You are created to pray. The bible says, men ought always to pray….

That means if you are a human being, you must pray.

The class continues tomorrow. Come with your pen and jotter.
