Jake excitedly hummed his way into the living room. He was too lost in his web of happiness that he notice the pair of eyes looking at him as he made his way to the stairs. He had only one thing in mind and that was go into his room, freshen up and call Jade while lying on his bed. He wanted to hear her voice one more time before calling it a night. He was missing her beautiful voice and smile already. He also wish he could spend all night with her….not doing anything lecherous of course, but simply holding hands with her and loving her in every possible way.
“Welcome home son” Jake halted when he heard his grandfather’s voice coming from behind him.
He turned to find his grandfather slowly approaching him.
“Grandfather” Jake called with a happy smile. “Good evening grandpa” He greeted in a cheerful tone, one grandfather Beau hadn’t heard in a long time.
“Seems you’re in a good mood” Grandfather stated, a smile of his own slowly warming up his face. Jake’s smile was an infectious one.
“Is it that obvious?” Jake cocked a brow at him.
“With you almost waltzing across the room, humming and smiling like you just got your favorite candy, sure it’s obvious” Grandfather said with a smile.
“Well I’m happy grandfather” Jake said with a smile. He didn’t want to come off like a school boy who just got his long time crush into agreeing to be his girlfriend…. but he knew he desperately wanted to tell someone about it, else his heart might burst from all the excitement.
“Care to tell me why?” Grandfather asked curiously.
“Hmmmm” Jake nodded.
“So?”
“She said yes” He told his grandfather, revealing a boyish smile.
“She did?” Grandfather asked excitedly. He didn’t need anyone to tell him what he was talking about. With the way he was grinning from ear to ear he knew it was that lovely girl β who he was yet to see β doings.
“Yes grandfather” Jake confirmed.
“That’s good” Grandfather replied with a approving nod. He couldn’t describe how happy he was at the moment, knowing that his grandson was finally changing his ways. He was feeling grateful at the moment, most especially to the girl who had taught this grandson of his how to live and love.
“So when do I see her?” Grandfather curiously asked. He couldn’t wait to see this future grand daughter in-law of his so he could spoil her and shower her with much love for turning his helpless grandson around.
“Grandfather, you’ve to got chill okay. You’ll see her when the time is right” Jake assured him.
“Okay if you say so” Grandfather nodded, in understanding. They had just started dating and he shouldn’t overwhelm her by pressing to seeing her.
A frown formed on Jake’s face when he realized that his grandfather wasn’t supposed to be awake at this time. As a matter of fact he should be in his room and not down here. He turned to look around for any other person, who was probably accompanying his grandfather. His frown deepened when he saw no one.
‘Where’s that stupid brother of his, who was supposed to look after their grandfather when he wasn’t around or that butler?’ Jake asked in his mind.
“Grandfather why are you awake, and why were you at the patio?” He asked with an unpleasant look on his face.
“Nothing I just wanted to stretch a bit. I’ve been sleeping all day so I felt a bit stiff, but I’m retiring back to the room” Grandfather lied. All he had just said were lies. He was actually waiting up for Jake, there was something important he had to share with him.
Jake observed the hesitant look on his grandfather’s face. He has lived long enough with him enough to know he was holding back on something.
“Grandfather is something wrong?” He asked with concern.
Grandfather Beau flashed a fake yet convincing smile at him. “Nothing is wrong, I’m perfectly fine”
“Are you sure? Is your digestive problem back? Do you need something?” Jake walked closer to him.
“Of course I need something” He replied.
“What is it?” Jake’s look suddenly turned extremely serious, as he impatiely waited for his Grandfather to make his request. He didn’t care what it was, he was going to get it done even if it was at the middle of the night.
“Always stay happy and treat her nicely” Grandfather said placing a hand on Jake’s shoulder.
Jake shot him a skeptical look, he didn’t want to believe that was what his grandfather wanted to say. But looking at the convincing look on his face Jake decided to believe him, and with a smile slowly appearing on his face he replied, “Yes grandfather”
“Good boy, now let’s go to bed. You Still have a lot to prepare for like the charity ball for tomorrow and the shareholders meeting” He told him, nudging him to walk ahead like a protective father who was ready to hold up his son just in case he slipped. Though he might be old and was the one with a failing health, that shouldn’t stop him from taking his protective role seriously.
As Jake walked ahead, grandfather Beau’s eyes were fixed on him. How was he going to tell Jake that there was a storm coming to him, and someone was vying and scheming for his position.
When he received a call from Richard, the company’s biggest shareholder and from some other members of the board asking for Jake’s resignation from the post of CEO he thought it was about time he told Jake all that has been going on, and also about the will his father had left behind with majority of the Beau’s fortune going to Hillary, his scheming wife.
But seeing how happy Jake was, he couldn’t bring himself to tell Jake such bad news, his happiness would be short lived. Jake should enjoy being in love and staying happy for as long as he could. Because when all these troubles start coming he wouldn’t have all the time he needs for his romantic life. He’d help him keep this looming darkness away for the time being.
He only prays it last for long.

Jade got herself ready for bed.
She laid down on her bed as she replayed all the events that took place tonight, beginning from when Jake had come to pick her up from the office looking so dashing, till when he placed that kiss on her head. Her thoughts reminded her just how fierce and hard Jake had kissed her that night at the hotel, she blushed and turned to her side to stiffle her giggle with her pillow, so that her mother and mischievous brother who has been parading her door for God knows what, wouldn’t hear her.
She frowned when her phone started ringing. Who the hell could be calling her at this time, and for what purpose? She grumpily reached for it from the bedside table.
Her eyes flew wide open and her heart skidded several beats when she saw who was calling. It was Jake. She hurriedly sat up and picked up the call.
“Hey” She said in a low voice, almost sounding hoarse and sleepy.
“Asleep already?” Jake asked feeling guilty that he might have woken her up. His voice was sounding hot and sexy to Jade. Did she just realize how deep and lovely her boyfriend’s voice could be? Nah… she didn’t think so. Maybe it was the night that was intensifying the sexiness of his voice.
“Jade?” Jake called out softly when he didn’t get a response from her. Maybe he had woken her up. He didn’t know what had gotten into him, prompting him into calling her in the first place. But he couldn’t sleep without hearing her voice. After turning and tossing under his quilt for a while he decided to call her.
“No, I was about to” She said, snapping out of her reverie.
“Oh, I’m sorry then”
“What for?” Jade asked in confusion.
“For disturbing you”
Jade panicked when she heard him apologize. He wasn’t going to end the call now was he? She wasn’t really sleeping.
“No you didn’t. Don’t hang up” She said hurriedly, she didn’t want him to hang up.
“I’m fully awake” She assured him as she tried normalizing her voice.
“Want to say something?” She asked, in an attempt to keep him on the line.
“Hmmm…no, I just wanted to hear you voice before I sleep” He said in a slightly serious tone, making his voice sound really deep and romantic, making Jade blush.
“I like that” Jade said as she rolled across her bed.
“And…” He paused.
“And what?” Jade pressed.
“I miss you already” He said a soft and gentle tone, tingling Jade’s ears. Her heart fluttered sheepishly.
“I β” Jade couldn’t bring the words out of her mouth. She also wanted to tell him that she missed him too, even though they had spent the major part of the night together.
Jake got up from the sofa he was sitting, and moved back to the bed, “Did I tell you how beautiful you looked tonight?” Jake asked, as he laid down on his back, his free hand tucked behind in head as he looked at the ceiling, but his mind virtualized a picture of Jade with her lupsciously glossy lip.
“No you didn’t” Jade replied with a warm blush crawling up her cheeks. She rolled to lie on her stomach, her legs swinging in the air.
“I’m sorry I didn’t. It’s all your fault, you keep knocking me senseless with your beauty. I wonder how you keep doing that” He hissed.
Jade giggled, “And you looked good too” She also complimented him, remembering how dashing he looked in his burgundy colored suit.
“Just good?” Jake asked, cocking a brow.
“Okay pleasant” She replied.
“Pleasant? Just pleasant?”
“Mmm, pleasantly handsome” Jade said as she bit her lower lips. Jake chuckled when he heard all the things she was saying. Couldn’t she have said that from the beginning. ‘Silly girl’
“That’s better. I know I’m gorgeously handsome” He had a picture of Jade rolling her eyes in his mind, he knew she secretly does that whenever he praises his look.
‘Ha, conceited again’ She hissed in her mind, as she rolled her eyes. But anyway he was right. He was sure handsome, even more than most men she knew.
“I’m seeing tomorrow right? Hope you haven’t forgotten about the party, and your request to see your idol, hmm?” He asked, a smiling playing in his lips, knowing he was his girlfriend idol. He thought about how surprised she would be when she realizes the truth tomorrow. He smiled in anticipation. He couldn’t wait!
“No I didn’t” She definitely hasn’t forgotten about it.
“Ermm, Jake about the party, can you tell me what kind of party it is, so I can know what to wear?” She remembered she had asked him this same questions a week ago, and his reply has been for her to just look beautiful, now she hoped for a better reply. It would help herself and Amy in knowing what to buy.
“It’s a party for some charity stuff”
“Really?” She scratched her forehead.
“So what do people wear to those?” She couldn’t help but ask. She has never been to such parties before, and she didn’t want to embarrass Jake by looking out of place either.
Jake could sense the tension in her voice and he sighed. She was thinking too much.
“You don’t have to worry yourself too much. Even if you’re dressed in a burlap sack, you’ll still look the prettiest and outshine all the ladies tomorrow” He told her.
His words made her heart swell. Who said it wasn’t good to date a guy that knew his way with words. At least he’ll know how to cheer you up and make you happy without much effort. The only problem would be if he spoke to other ladies like this. A frown formed on her face when she thought about that. She didn’t want to share his sweet words any other girl.
“Jade?” He called again when she became quiet.
“You’re only going to say these kind of things to me right?” Jade couldn’t help herself.
Jake paused for a while to understand the full meaning of her questioning. He laughed out when he realized what she meant.
“It’s only our first day, no make that night and you’re already becoming possessive?” He asked amusedly.
“I’m not being possessive” Jade gruffed.
“Whatever. I like it. And believe me it’s only for you” He confidently said, making her frown disappear.
“Okay” She replied softly.
“I’ll let you sleep now okay. Good night”
“Good night” Jade responded.
“Sweet dreams” Jake said before ending the call.
Jade happily drew her quilt over her head.. Of course she was going to have good dreams.
