*Present.*
Lair has been watching Blake work on the system for the last half hour. His hands were moving so fast as he kept typing in several codes. He couldn’t help but admire Blake’s skills. He had remembered back in college days when he had hyped Blake’s skillfulness among some guys who had self-proclaimed themselves as computer wizard, and he had made a bet with them that Blake was way better than they were. Only if they had been humble and had backed down at the time, but no they didn’t. They had made the bet go viral and had invited people to come to watch the hack battle, if only they knew they were digging their pits.
He could still remember how embarrassed they were when Blake whopped their ass. They couldn’t raise their heads till graduation day.
He had felt sad when that incident happened back then. He had regretted not being there’s for Blake at the time. His studies had put a huge gap in their friendship at the time, and he still felt bad to date.
Lair was about to say something, when Blake chipped, “Bingo”
“What you got it?” Lair anxiously asked, he peered his eyes towards the screen that was now popping up series of documents.
“What do you think?” Blake smugly asked.
“You’re the best” Lair said excitedly, making Blake smile, but the smile on his face wavered when something appeared on the screen.
“Why is there a death certificate?” He asked.

Jade stirred up from sleep, her eyes slowly fluttered open but her vision was hazy. She could hear slight movements but she couldn’t make out what exactly was making that noise. She tried to make sense of her environment but she could barely see anything as the place was dark, the only light in the room was faint and it was coming from something that seemed like a broken lamp or something. She tried to move but she suddenly felt a pound in her head making her wince. She realized she was lying on a concrete floor and it was really cold. Realizing the cold and hard floor her brain joggled up. She jerked up despite the pain she was feeling. Luckily for her, she wasn’t tied up.
‘Where was she?’ She asked herself. She tried to stand to her feet but her legs wobbled and she fell back to the floor.
‘Where the hell was this place? And why was it so dark?’ Jade could feel fear slowly crawling into her heart. She tried to remember how she had gotten there, but her memory seemed foggy. Even her body was heavy. Has she been drugged? She asked herself in trepidation. That should be the case, as her head felt too heavy, she couldn’t even think which her head hurting so severely, then there was also her body which felt very heavy.
Jade looked around again but she still couldn’t make sense of where she was. She looked at the lamp from the side which was doing nothing at illuminating the room. How useless! She cussed.
“Hello, is someone there?” She called out.
“Hello!” Jade called again, but then there was no response. She could hear her voice echoing and that meant it must be an empty room.
Jade placed her ear to the ground if she could hear anything, maybe moving vehicles, anything that will tell her where she was but there was nothing.
She stretched her hand to the side to reach for the wall, but her hand met nothing but air. Seems she was in the middle of the room if only she could crawl to the side, and that was exactly what she did. She dragged her limp body to what seemed like her left side but she had only moved a little bit she felt something pierce her hand.
“Ahhh” She yelped in pain. She had placed her wrist on something and it had pierced her hand. A tear rolled down her cheek at the pain surging through her hand. She used her left hand to reach for it and she felt something sticky running down her hand. It was blood and it was dripping fast.
She reached for the place where she felt the pain and touched something like a nail, it was stuck in her hand. She bit her lips hardly as she pulled it out, making her cry out in pain. She felt it in her hand and it was indeed a nail, it was small, probably half an inch in size but the tip felt sharp almost as if it was new.
Jade bit her lips as she tried to forget the pain and continued crawling to the side. Few more drags and there she felt another wave of pain shoot through her body. She had been pierced by another nail but this time not on her hand but her thigh. Did someone do this to her on purpose to prevent her from escaping?
She reached for her thighs to reach for the nail. Jade cried at the pain. She wept her hand on the floor around her and she was shocked to feel even more nails around her.
What was this?
Jade decided not to move again. She sat still and endure her pain. She tried to remember who had brought her there, she remembered telling Amy she was going to the restroom to ease herself and she had just done just that. She was heading back when she heard someone call her name, and when she had looked around she couldn’t find anybody.
Jade winced when her head suddenly banged as she tried to force herself to remember. But she couldn’t stop now. She had to remember.
Jade closed her eyes as she continued to force her memory.
When she blew didn’t see anybody she turned around to head back to Amy but that was when she had seen someone standing in front of her with a janitor uniform.
Jade gasped when she realized who had done this. It was that stupid bastard!
And just as Jade remembered, she heard the door open from the outside and she saw someone standing there. She was sure he was the one.
He flicked the lights on and Jade closed her eyes at the abrupt assault of the light. She opened her eyes back to look at him and he was standing at the door with a fake concerned expression as he looked at the blood on the ground.
“Cale you bastard!!” Jade roared in anger the veins in her head almost bulging out. He gazed at her angry face and he revealed an eery smile.
“Miss me? Hope you had a sound sleep?” He asked as he strolled into the room, he had two polythene bags in his hand.
“You kidnapped me? How dare you kidnap me? Why did you kidnap me?” She asked lividly. Cale ignored her rant, he dropped the bad on the floor slowly walked to where she was sitting down. Jade felt fear crawl into her as she moved backwards.
“Stop moving there are nails all around you. I thought I’d come to see you covered with nails poking all over your body, but like always you’re still too smart” He crouched down and scooped her up.
“Put me down, you bastard! Put me down this instant” She drawled put he ignored and placed her on the other side of the room, more precisely on a foam.
He looked at her hand then her thigh which was injured and he hissed, “You shouldn’t have moved” He said as he walked back to pick the polythene bags he had dropped on the floor.
“Why did you kidnap me? Why did you bring me here?” She demanded.
Cale looked at her and smiled, “Because this is where you belong, with me”
Jade looked at Cale with incredulity. He was sounding crazy. She gave him a full look and she couldn’t help but notice just how dishelleved he looked. He wasn’t like the Cale she had known, he seemed changed and there was something different about his eyes, as a matter of fact, everything about him looked changed.
Her eyes scanned the room, and just as she has suspected it was a large and empty room. There was nothing in it except the small mattress she was currently sitting on. She looked at the place where she had been, and she noticed the nails were only placed at that spot. They were small and new and had all been placed to face upward.
She glanced back at Cale with distaste in her eyes. He was such a cruel person. What would have happened to her if she had been persistent to move? She would have had nails poking all over her body.
“You’re such a devil” Jade couldn’t help but cuss at him. Seeing what he was capable of, made her angry and hateful towards him.
Cale snickered when he heard her, he turned towards her with a smirk plastered on his face.
“And you’ll be the devil’s mistress” He boldly replied.
“Cale you’ve gone mad. You’re more than mad. What has come over you?”
“You” He replied forcefully, his voice was harsh and firm, startling Jade.
He sighed when he saw how she jerked in fear. Lowering his voice he continued, “You’ve come over me. You broke my heart and you betrayed me. You made me like this Jade, only you” He said quite emotionally.
Jade was now convinced he was indeed mad. Maybe he had taken some drugs and that had altered his mental health.
She looked at him incredulously, “Me? I broke your heart?” She couldn’t help but scoff at that.
“You’re delusional. Whatever drugs you’ve been taking you better stop taking them And if you know what is good for you, let me go this instant. I’m sure people are looking for me and you’ll be in trouble if you don’t let me go” She warned.
She was surprised when he burst out in laughter. He turned to look at her, a mocking smile tugging the side of his lips, “You mean that stupid guy who is currently deceiving you? He can try to find you all he wants. You know you love me so stop acting up” He hissed as he began to take out the things from the bag. There were toiletries food and some other stuff
‘Love him? What dream was he having?’
He was really going to keep her there, wasn’t he? Jade didn’t know why but she began to fear the man standing in front of her. When did he turn into this person? He was truly going to adopt her and keep her against her will?
“Cale you really have to let me go,” She told him.
He paused what he was doing and looked at her, “Why? Why do you want to leave?” He asked.
“Because I have a home, and people who care about me. And I don’t love you! I don’t want to be here with you” She told him in a fearless tone even though she was a bit scared in her heart. The Cale before her was giving her a wrong vibe, a dangerous one at that.
“You don’t mean that,” He said with a convincing smile, more like he was trying to convince himself.
“I mean it. I’m in love with someone else, not you” Jade told him.
Cale’s lips twitched when he heard what she just said. His eyes turned red. He took slow steps as he walked closer to her.
Jade moved backwards she felt goosebumps rising on her skin when she saw the way he was looking at her. He was going to harm her, she was sure of it.
“Cale–” Before she could say anything he grabbed her neck and pulled her up,
“Don’t you dare say that in front of me ever again! You’re mine and you can only be mine” He snarled.
Jade’s face turned red as she couldn’t breathe he was choking her.
“Le….et me..go” She tapped on his hand.
“No!” He said before pulling her forward to himself and he forcefully attacked her lips.
“Let…me..go” Jade mumbled against his lips as he forcefully kissed her while she struggled with him, but he wasn’t letting go. It seems the more she struggled the more violent he became. Tears trickled down her eyes as he kept choking her while kissing her.
Jade didn’t know what to do but an idea struck her mind. She fiercely bit his lips so much that she drew blood from it and at the same time she kneaded him.
“Fuck!!!!” He cried as he forcefully pushed her away while he fell to his knees.
She gasped as she fell on the bed, as she tried to draw air into her deprived lungs.
*Cough* cough.
Without wasting time Jade used the opportunity she had and hurried to the door. She turned the knob but it was locked. She looked around to find the key but there was none. Jade looked at him, he was still on the floor holding his crotch while wincing in pain.
Jade’s heart was racing fast.
Her heart skid when she saw him slowly standing up to his feet.
“Help!! Help me!!” Jade cried desperately as she began to barge on the door. Cold sweats were breaking all over her body. Jade was still knocking on the door frantically when she felt her leg been pulled. She fell hard so much that she used her head to hit the floor forcefully.
She cried out in pain, she could feel something sticky dripping down her head, and her eyes were sort of feeling blurry.
“You bitch!!” Cale landed a slap on her face. Jade cried out in more pain.
“Cale please… let me go” She pleaded in tears.
“In your dreams, you belong to me only me!” He said as he picked her up and carried her in his arms. Jade tried to wriggle herself free but she couldn’t. Jade couldn’t help herself now, and all she could do was shout for help.
“Someone please help me” She knew what was coming her way and she feared it.
“Shut up you bitch” He tossed her on the bed and landed her another slap before he mounted her. Jade felt her heart hammering against her chest when she saw the way he was now looking at her.
“You denied me for four years but you let him touch you. You let him fuck what was mine! If he did it well, I’ll just do it better. You have no idea how I’ve fascinated touching you and making love to you” He said.
Tears rolled down Jade’s eyes when she heard him. She shook her head when he started pulling on her trousers, “Cale please, don’t do this I beg you” She pleaded tearfully. She couldn’t let him do this to her. She would rather die.
“Shut up. I’ll be nice” He said as he struggled with her trousers.
Jade kept twirling as she tried to prevent him from stripping her off her clothes. No! she couldn’t let this happen to her, but what could she do?
“Ahhh” A scream echoed across the room.
