“Babe you’re a prodigy” Jake said, gleefully placing a kiss on his girlfriend’s cheek.
“I am?” Jade smiled back. She loved the fact that she had been able to help him and he that was proud of her.
“Of course you’re honey” Jake beamed as he planted another kiss on her lips, cheek, nose, chin, making her giggle helplessly.
Calling her a prodigy, treating her specially and planting several kisses on her like as he looked at her with so much pride in his eyes made her realize how unappreciated she had been with Cale. He’d sometimes give her a pat on the head, or like most times he’d just say ‘this is for our future. We have to build it and you’re just the right woman to build it’
How he wouldn’t call her for days after she has helped with something. Most times she’d be the one to call him and he’d give her the, ‘I’m busy right now, let me call you back’ excuse. She had been so naive that she didn’t know that she was been used like a toy – a ladder to success.
Who knew she was missing out on so many things. Being with Jake had made her realize how beautiful and amazing relationships could be. The key to having a loving relationship was simply being with a good man, just hers.
“Does this mean I get to drive your car?” Jade asked anxiously, a pleading smile etched on her face.
“No” Jake firmly replied, his smile completely disappearing from his face.
“No? Still no?” She asked in disbelief.
“But Jake it’s just a drive. Pleaseee” She said pulling her million dollar puppy face at him. Jake was stunned when he saw her fluttering her eyes and giving him a puppy face. He quickly looked away before he got swayed, “Don’t give me that face” He said without looking at her.
“Why? Just say yes” Jade pressed as she leaned closer to him, wrapping her arms tightly against his neck with her lips almost kissing the crook of his neck and her body tightly pressed against his. “Just one ride, please say yes” She continued to plead, not knowing what her actions was doing to the man underneath her.
“Uhmm” Jake awkwardly cleared his throat. “Ba-be?”
“Hmm?” Jade murmured still holding tightly to his neck with her lips still pouted, desperately waiting for a positive reply.
“Ca-can you stop doing that?” He asked, his tone lowered as he tried to compose himself. Does this girl even know what she was doing? Holding him like that and feeling her hot breath against him with her chest pressed against him like that was highly dangerous. His body was reacting to the softness of her body. Does she even know that he has a tank full and ready to explode at the slightest provocation?
“Doing what?” Jade asked in confusion.
“Rub-bing against – me like that” He said in a soft tone. His words suddenly made Jade stiffen. Her body stiffened lightly when she realized the compromising position they were. She was clinging tightly against him and her body was fully pressed against him.
She pursed her lips as she slowly let go of her hold on him, as she tried to stand up, but Jake was quick to pull her down.
“Where are you going?” He asked her.
“I – I”
Jake knew what she was trying to do, and he didn’t blame her, he was the one who had drawn her attention to it. The proximity they shared just now had stirred up some hormones in him, but that didn’t mean he wanted her to stop sitting on his laps.
“Baby it’s okay. You can sit on me, just don’t go pressing all of that on me, I might just lose control” ‘I’ve been sex starved for too long’ He added in his mind. He didn’t dare to say that out so she wouldn’t feel embarrassed.
Jade looked at him and slowly nodded her head. Jake noticed how her countenance has changed and how stiff she was sitting now, being careful not to make same mistake twice. He knew there was no way she’d relax sitting like that anymore. He swiftly scooped her up earning a yelp from her.
“What are you doing? Put me down” She ordered with a stern voice, but Jake didn’t listen rather he did something even more crazy. He let go of his hand on her and she yelped even more and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck clinging unto him like a koala.
“That’s more like it” Jake smirked, while Jade smacked him on his chest.
“You should hold on to me like that” He whispered into her ears before lowering her down on the sofa. “You should sit down and relax your back, before it breaks” He said as planted another kiss on her forehead.
“So do I get to drive?” Jade asked again looking at him as he lowered himself beside her.
“You don’t give up do you?” He raised a brow at her, while she vigorously shook her head, indicating she doesn’t. He took a deep breath and sighed.
“Do you even know how to drive?” He asked.
“Of course I do. I’m a pro at driving” She chipped.
“I don’t mean the virtual ones. I mean actual driving” He emphasized just in case she was referring to the car racing games she had always indulged it and was actually very good at . People always assume they’ll probably be good at driving after successfully playing such games. Jade eyed him wickedly, he was underestimating her.
“I know how to drive an actual car” She replied shooting a mock-glare. Jake sighed deeply as he lolled back on the sofa.
“Okay fine” He reluctantly agreed, not because he was trying to reward her for helping him but because he couldn’t say no to her.
“Really?” Jade asked with glee, her eyes litting up excitedly.
“Mmm. But Just one drive and I get to pick the location” He told her, which had her bobbing her head up and down vigorously.
“You’re the best” She chipped, as she kissed him on his cheek and clung to his arm. Her actions made Jake smile happily. He was happy when she was happy.
Jade couldn’t contain her excitement as she kept swinging her legs happily, she could already envision herself driving Jake’s elemento. God knows how much she loved the car. She has always dreamt of knowing seeing one, now she was dating a man who owned not just one but quite a number of them.
Who said dating a rich man, was a bad idea.
“Okay don’t be too happy about it, before I change my mind” Jake teased.
“You wouldn’t dare” She threatened making Jake chuckle. He looked back at his desk and there was still a lot of work to do, but he wanted to stay like this a little longer. Speaking about work, he looked at his wristwatch, and he realized it was way past lunch time. Jade had to go back to work. He felt bad for making her come all the way to there during working hours.
“Babe I have to take you back to work”. He said as he tried standing up, making Jade sit up right as she let go of his arm.
“Why? You don’t like me being here?” She asked.
“Comeon, that’s not true. This is your first time in my office, and I love having you here but you still have to go to work. You don’t want to be in trouble, do you?” He reasoned. For some reason his baby girl was being clingy today, and he liked it.
“But I won’t be in trouble” She told him, making him tilt his head to the side, his brow cocked at her. “What do you mean?” He asked.
“Because It’s a free day. My boss gave me an off day from work, so I came to spend it with you” She informed him.
“Really?”
“Hmm” She nodded her head. “So you see Mr Jake Beau, it’s me and you all day. I’ll keep your company while you work. What do you say?” She asked wriggling her brows at him.
“Awesome”

*Back in Hillary’s car*
“What happened? Did everything go as planned?” Shirley inquisitively asked as they headed back to Hillary’s Mansion.
The woman slowly turned to look at her personal assistant/manager.
“More than expected” She said, as she slowly revealed a smile which showed her dentitions.
“That meant the shareholders did perfectly well?” Shirley asked again. Sometimes she was slow to understand this woman’s words.
“They did well. But they can still do more” Hillary said thoughtfully, making Shirley raise her brow in confusion.
“You have more plans for them don’t you?” Shirley asked inquisitively.
Hillary looked at her, and signalled her to come closer. Her actions made Shirley frightened, her heart skipping a beat, but she did anyway. She knew better than to delay for a second.
Slowly leaning forward towards Hillary, Hillary grabbed her chin. Her grip was firm but not too strong.
“Honey for some reason, I feel like you’re asking too much this days. Anything you want to tell me?” Hillary’s words were direct but slow, like she was counting it, but her eyes spoke volumes completely scaring Shirley, who started to shake her head vigorously.
“Mmm” Hillary nodded her head. She let go of her grip on her and slowly smoothened Shirley’s hair.
“I like you Shirley. But you should know how to tread cautiously. You should know I feed on my own, and you’re not an exception. Like I always say, curiosity kills the–” She paused and cocked her brow at her, indicating for her to complete her sentence.
“Cat” Shirley said in trepidation, making Hillary flash a sweet yet scary smile at her. “You’re such a good girl” She said as she leaned back on the seat.
“Be kind and find me a good boy for the night. I’m in a good mood” She said as she raised her head up and closed her eyes.
“Yes Hillary” Shirley replied.
“I wish I still had Kyle, he was such a good boy” She muttered softly.

Blake and Amy continued to look at one another in silence. Amy was yet to understand the words he said to her. She had never seen him as someone useless, never had she shared that thought, so why had he said that to her? Ann why had he spoken to her with such a tone, like he was irritated or angry at her.
As a matter of she had always seen him as an intelligent and resourceful man despite this intentional effort of acting lazy. And wasn’t that one of the reasons why she had like him? So why was he sounding that way with her? Amy won’t lie she felt hurt.
She had really been surprised seeing Blake working like that. He had suddenly transformed into something she didn’t know he was. No matter how she tried to think of what she had seen, she still arrived at the conclusion that she had indeed seen him working on some codes and that was something unbelievable. Something she didn’t think he’d be able to do.
But the question was how? He had never shown any interest neither had she seen him working on any codes since she started working there. She has always wondered if he really knew nothing about programming since he worked in the only department which had nothing to do with programming nor designing. So how was he able to do that? He had just done what she couldn’t have done, neither would any damn programmer do in such a short period of time.
He had just personally done a software change control and that was absolutely shocking.
“You really have to stop looking at me like that” Blake said in a slightly cold tone that made Amy frown even more, but she quickly let go when her eyes caught up another upcoming alert on the monitor.
“I think you have to look at that. It seems he’s about to disable your software” She said making Blake turn back to the screen.
“Not again” He hissed frustratedly.
“Why don’t you finish up that change monitoring so that the other softwares can be isolated from the server, and I can-“
“Cover the network periphery by doing a network propagation” He interjected her leaving her completely stunned one more time, because he had just read her mind.
It was almost as if they had suddenly become telepathic. But how then did he know any of these?
Amy looked at him for some few seconds before plonking herself on a seat before one of the systems and started working with him. She’d ask him after they’ve dealt with the ongoing threat.

*Mrs Walker’s office*
Mrs Walker was startled when the door to her office was rudely flung open.
“What the-” Her words trailed off when she saw who had barged into her office. She was startled out of her mind.
“Hello mother” Lair greeted with an insincere smile as he walked into her office.
“What are you doing here?” Mrs Walker asked in an angry tone as she hurriedly tried to put away the file in her hands.
“What’s that?” Lair asked as he quickly approached her desk.
“Nothing that concerns you” She replied in cold tone as she tried putting it away into one of her desk drawers, but she wasn’t fast enough, because the next second Lair had snatched the document out of her hand.
“Give that back this instant” She roared with angry eyes, making Lair look at her with an equal gaze, he was unfazed by her outburst. His gaze on her showed he wasn’t there to play. He had waited on her till she finished her little meeting with that unknown man and had tailed her to the office. He knew he had to do this, because this was the only way he could protect his little sister.
“Lair!” She called as she tried reaching for the file but Lair moved away from her. His gaze on her were fierce and intense. Mrs Walker was a bit uncomfortable with the cold look in her son’s eyes. She knew him well to know that as the most rebellious of all her children, he didn’t do as he was told. He was equally as stubborn as she was.
“Mother I’d advice you to stop this right now or maybe you want me to call Father to personally demand for this personally. It’s your choice” He menaced. His words and tone made his mother’s quiver in fear. She wouldn’t want that to happen. Having Jacob seeing this would be trouble for her and she’d indeed lose her husband, her marriage and her children for sure.
She kept looking at him with an awkward look on her face. Lair sighed and returned his attention back to the file in his hand, when he saw the resigned look in her eyes. He took a look at the documents and his eyes slightly widen. He snapped his head towards his mother who was now looking at him, with a gaze which he’d interpret as one of fear.
Seeing the way Lair was looking at her she looked away before slumping down on her seat with a defeated look on her face.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Lair asked confusedly, but his mother kept looking in the opposite direction, not trying to meet his eyes.
“Mom I’m asking you! What does this mean?” He asked irritably, his voice slightly raised at her.
“What you saw is what it is. I can’t find him” She replied with a deflated tone, as she turned to look at him.
“What do you mean you can’t find him?” Lair asked in a disbelieving tone. “You put him in jail. You sent him there, so why don’t you go there and bring him out” He asked angrily.
“Lair don’t make things harder than it already is” She hissed in annoyance, making Lair scoff in disbelief.
“I’m making things hard for you?” He asked, looking at her incredulously. “Aren’t you the one making things hard on yourself? I only asked a simple question mother, what does this document mean? Why can’t you find him?” He angrily asked slamming the documents on her table.
“I don’t know” She yelled exasperatedly.
Her response suddenly made an awkward wave of silence sweep across the room. Lair stared at her in shock and disbelief.
She raised her gaze to look at him helplessly, “I can’t find him. I’ve checked all the correction centers, documents, everything I can’t find him. It’s like he had suddenly disappeared into thin air” She said in a low and confused tone. It was clear that she was also confused about the whole situation.
“But that’s impossible. People don’t just disappear from prison. He’s a person and person’s just don’t disappear. There’s got to be some reasonable explanation for that, right? I mean we’re talking about a whole system. Someone don’t go missing from a place like that. There’s got to be something. Files, cameras, anything…you know these stuffs” Lair told her, his gaze on her was strong, intense and obviously angry. He couldn’t believe what she was saying.
“And I’ve checked. I’ve personally been to the prison. I’ve checked every document that’s to be checked. And I came up with nothing. It’s like he wasn’t even there before. I would have almost doubted him ever being there, if I hadn’t put him there myself” She hissed.
“Then how do you explain this sudden disappearance?” He asked.
“I don’t know. I tried finding out if there was been any changes before, like transferring of inmates or if maybe he was let out on parole but there nothing. There’s no paper trail, nothing!” She informed him.
Lair sighed deeply as he pulled out a seat in front of her desk and sat on it. He looked at her and sighed when he saw the distressed look on her face. It seems she was finally understanding the gravity of what she has done.
“So what does this mean? Could he be dead? But even if he was there has got to be some documentation right?” He inquired.
“Yes there has got to be one, but there is none”
“So you’re saying you don’t know if he’s dead or alive?” He narrowed his eyes at her.
“Yes” She replied firmly.
“How is that even possible?” Lair demanded. The possibility of someone disappearing from a government correction establishment with no paper trail was unfathomable. it was something that only happened in movies and not in reality. He didn’t understand any of this. Nothing she was saying now makes sense.
There has got to be some logical explanation for this.. And the only one he could think of right now was, someone has deliberately removed the information they needed. But why?
