It scared me to think Aaliyah was alone with those monsters, she was delicate and vulnerable. “Gerald has taken away my fragile beauty!” I screamed, I was on the verge of tears.
“Ric, calm down! We’ll find her” Kohen spoke calmly
How could I stay calm when my brain’s emotional center and fear center were overactive. I couldn’t even think of a way to distract myself from my anxious thoughts and feelings of hopelessness.
I looked at my Dad and Aaliyah’s Dad, those two were so restless and tense
“Are you still waiting for that call?” I asked, already in a tetchy mood
“Don’t be so impatient. Gerald will definitely call, I know the plans he has for you” Kohen said. I stopped using the internet and threw away my mobile phone.
Kohen stared down at the gleaming wooden floor tiles. He grabbed the phone off the floor and it was completely destroyed.
“We are expecting Gerald’s call. Remember?” Kohen whispered. Despite his disappointment, he smiled.
I was frustrated to the point of exasperation and I realized I was kneeling on the floor with my head bowed. I felt more guilty about thinking badly about Aaliyah’s safety
The front door swung open behind me and Alisa came in with a frightened and scared look.
She startled and was horrified to see Mr. Richard. She stood still for a moment and wiped her face with her shirt sleeves. Then she gave him a sheepish smile as she picked up her dropped bag. Mr. Richard’s eyes took in every detail of her face and took a deep breath
Immediately Kohen puts my SIM card in his phone, a call came in. He handed the phone to me and I spoke with Gerald. That criminal told me to come unaccompanied to the meet and right away I rushed out of the house.

When I got to the location, I saw those rugged rebel, staring stoically at me. “Lover boy is here!” One of them said mockingly
He extended his arm for a professional handshake and introduced himself while smiling. I uttered a snorting laugh, shrugging my shoulders as I rolled my eyes and said. “I don’t like you”
I’ll never forget his evil grinning face staring at me as he nodded. We passed through the throng without making eye contact for fear of leers and reached the entrance foyer.
Then I started to feel panicky and breathless, seeing the large number of gang members at the doorway
He knocked on the door, having done that, he lifted his elbow with a smart gesture, stroked his mustache and told me to enter. I was terrified but I needed to summon up my courage to face Gerald
When I entered the room, a wicked grin crossing his face as he looked up. Aaliyah was tied to a chair, there were tears in her eyes and on seeing her, I was heartbroken.
“So you’re truly in love with a dumb girl while you’re treating my daughter like a worthless and disreputable person” Gerald talked rudely
“What do you want?” I asked
“Nothing much, you see this marriage contract, you have to sign it” Gerald muttered and gave me a legal contract. Aaliyah moved her gaze down the wall and directly into my eyes, her dull eyes became clear again
I glanced through it, then read it again, and then again, and standing still in the middle of the room. I raised my shoulders, stretching out my hands, with my mouth wide open and my eyes fixed on Gerald
“Why are you forcing me to marry your daughter?” I demanded
“This marriage contract is an agreement which needed to be sign and it provides a private and custom-made set of rules for dividing the couple’s property in case they separate, divorce or die. So hurry up, we don’t have all day!” Gerald stated, ignoring my question
He stood up from a chair and aimed his gun at Aaliyah.
“Has he signed the contract?” I heard a deep feminine voice. I turned and saw Uriana entering into the room.
“Uriana! Great. Just great” I sarcastically remarked
“We meet again son” She said with a slansher smile, her eyes were clearly malevolent
“You’re not my mother. My mother can never be this heartless” I spat at her
“Oh! Nolan has told you right? Anyways that’s your problem. I can see you’ve grown into quite handsome and wealthy young man. How Nolan managed to survive is what I couldn’t understand but it’s none of my business. I’m back to have my share of your wealth” Uriana said
Things started getting clearer immediately she finished speaking, she was Gerald’s mistress and they wanted to use Mia to steal from me just like she did to my Dad.
“I’m very sure my mother would be regretting to have you as her twin” I murmured
“And who cares about how your mother feels” She retorted. Her eyes turned black indicating the purity of the evil within them and total lack of humanity.
She drew a gun at the small of her back and aimed it at the head of Aaliyah. “What a waste of beauty. Why are so beautiful when you know you won’t live long” Uriana said to Aaliyah and she started sobbing
I quickly thought of a way to delay the signing of the contract until Kohen arrived and I asked Gerald. “Why did you kill Mr. Richard and his wife?”
“How did you know?” He asked
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“You’re a smart kid!” Anyways since I will send Richard’s daughter to him very soon she deserves to know that I killed her parents” Gerald confessed
“Enough of talking!” Uriana commanded. She stared at me, expecting me to sign the agreement but I refused stubbornly
I screamed when Uriana shot Aaliyah on her leg, I ran towards her and fell to my knees
“You’re just too stubborn Ric, you’re different from Nolan. Sign the contract before I shot her on the head” Uriana shouted
I picked the pen with a trembling hand, sweating profusely. I looked at Aaliyah and she nodded, telling me to go ahead. I knew she was in terrible, unbearable pain, she didn’t seemed to be herself and I felt bad about that
The door was wrenched open, and a Cop pointed the gun at Uriana. Gerald looked frightened as he saw his wife and Mr. Richard
“Richard?” He uttered, obviously surprised.
Mr. Richard ignored him and moved closer to Aaliyah and we both untie the rope
“Uriana you haven’t change. You want to destroy my son even after everything you did to me” Dad said but she just rolled her eyes
Gerald took a gun from his back pocket and aimed it at Mr. Richard. Aaliyah saw his moves and she quickly used her free hand to push her Dad away, so she got shot in the stomach
With baffling speed, Kohen shot Gerald on both hands, then he was handcuffed and put in leg restraints. Uriana was led away by police in handcuffs while I lifted Aaliyah’s unconscious body in my arms and carried her to an awaiting car.
