Gerald kept me in the dark about his family. I was so clueless about his family background, so ignorant and stupid not to know that my mother-in-law was Mr Robert’s ex-wife. Even Rhoda didn’t mention anything to me. “I can be pretty unobservant” I scolded myself.
Gerald killed my benefactor, my friend all because of wealth that doesn’t belong to him. I got married to a wicked, ruthless, and dishonest man.
I watched Mr Richard and Ric from afar, those men were in a pitiable condition. They looked uncertain when the doctor said that Aaliyah wasn’t responding to treatment.
“I have failed to be a good friend if Aaliyah die. I promised Rhoda to look after her daughter and I can’t let her down” I wiped tears off my face, after all Gerald doesn’t deserve my tears.
I left others at the hospital, drove straight off to my church. As I drove, problems bobbed to the surface of my mind like driftwood released from quicksand
Opposite the church was a parsonage. I parked the car in front of the spacious Vicarage. I knew the priest spent most of his time inside his parsonage reading his Bible and preparing his sermons. So I rang the doorbell and a few minutes later I was sitting in front of the priest
He prayed for me and agreed to follow me to the hospital after explaining things to him.
“Gerald who perpetrated the hurt didn’t show remorse but I will do everything possible to earn Mr. Richard’s trust and to make sure that Aaliyah is well” I said to myself

We got back to the hospital and we took the elevator to the 10th floor. I was reluctant to enter into Aaliyah’s private ward but the priest gave me a reassuring smile
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus” He said and made the sign of the cross
Ric and Mr. Richard looked up at him, thier arched brows were furrowed as they leered at me with contemptuous expressions
“I’m Revered Anthony” The priest quickly spoke up again but they gave no attention to him
“I’m here to pray for….” He looked at me and I mouthed “Aaliyah”
“I’m here to pray for Aaliyah and I believe in God who is the origin of everything that is the Maker of heaven and earth that she will come back to life” Rev. Anthony began with an affirmation of faith in God.
That attracted Ric’s attention and he suddenly became interested in what the priest was saying
“Are you sure?” Ric asked
“If you have faith in God” He responded
“Do you think she can talk?” Ric asked again and Rev. Anthony became confused
“She couldn’t talk since she was born” I explained
“Nothing is impossible with God. The Bible encourages us to believe in God and that all things are possible with Him. Jesus was a great example of this, performing miracles in His time that many would have considered impossible. God’s power is infinite” Rev Anthony uttered
“What will I do?” Ric inquired
“You have to trust with your entire being that God has your back, believe that He is good and that He loves you” Rev. Anthony replied
“I believe!” Ric said
Then he began to pray and rounded off the prayer ten minutes later. He waved goodbye as he left and Mr. Richard directed his attention towards me
“Why are you doing this?” He quizzed
“I’m different from my husband. If I had known that Gerald was planning evil against you I would have told Rhoda before he executed his plan. Please believe me” I said sincerely
He let out a sigh of disappointment, lowering his face into his hand.
